Mac and cheese

Ingredients

Directions:

  1. Cook 1.5 cups elbow macaroni in boiling salted water untill tender; drain
  2. In saucepan, melt 3 Tbsp butter.
  3. Blend in 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp salt and dash of pepper
  4. Add 2 cups milk; cook and stir until thick and bubbly
  5. Add 1/4 cup finely chopped onion (optional)
  6. Add 8 oz sharp process American cheese, cubed (2 cups); stir until melted
  7. Mix cheese sauce with macaroni
  8. Turn into 1.5 quart casserole
  9. Sprinkle 1 sliced tomato with salt; arrange atop.
  10. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until heated through.
